The Rise of Atlantis
3ds max, Painter, Photoshop
July 2011

This illustration talks about the myth of Atlantis.

City zoom.

Water zoom.

In my interpretation, Atlanteans have challenged the Gods with their own powerfull technology. The Gods became very angry with that insult and swore revenge. The Atlanteans thought their fate would be death, but the Gods did not kill everyone, they did it worst: the Gods sank Atlantis on deep waters, banishing forever the arrogant Atlanteans from the face of world and cursing them to sink into oblivion.

All this time, many have tried to found the location of the sunken city, but none have ever succeeded... or had the chance to spread the word about it...

The lost continent is in somewhere deep in the ocean waiting during millenniums for the Gods forgiveness in vain. However, one day, at the end of the mayan calendar... The sky were torn apart... The clouds disappeared, showing a direct connection to the deep space, a galaxy never seen before.

A strong ray of light shocked against the water, creating a giant hurricane, arising the fallen city of Atlantis from the deep sea to the unknow space...

Who or What is abducting Atlantis, for Where and What secret technology has incited the Gods the human kind will never figure out...

But now we know one thing: the legends were true.

I did it for the Dreamscape CGchallenge. I posted there, but I forgot to display it on my gallery and submit for comments.

I hope you enjoy it. Comments are welcome.
